  1. I have been reading in numerous places that it is fitting a (much) larger number of mb on a disk is quite doable without the overburning issue coming into use. I have tried many times to put more than the standard 700 mb onto a 700 mb disk, only to have nero 5.5.7.2 ask me for a larger capacity disk. End of discussion, no options offered, the cdr simply spits out the disk. Is there a setting I must change beforehand to make this magical transformation of near 800 mb to fit on a 700 mb disk? I am not trying to be sarcastic, but I have read in many places that it is normal to expect to be able to do this.

700 is when burning in mode1 burning mode2 fits 800mb. Svcd uses mode2 you can also use mode2 cd maker to burn other stuff in mode2.

  3. You need to enable overburning in nero, go to file-preferences-expert features-check enable overburning.

  4. So this mode 2 in burning is only for svcds? My mintek standalone player, unfortuanately only will play vcds and xvcds.

  5. Also in Nero make sure you have the writing mode on
Disk at once, not track at once. Overburning does not work at TAO.

And, well obviously enable overburning, you could also un-check the 'check disk format before burning' thuogh I havent found this to help.

Set it to Track at once, that'll fix your problems

Another green world, ignore the other replys as they are complete BULLSHIT.(mostly)

    800MB on a 700MB 100% possible without overburning.!!

Using nero to do this with either SVCD or VCD.
1)VCD must be multiplexed as Mpeg1 VCD
2)SVCD must be multiplexed as a Mpeg2 SVCD

you can do the above with Tmpgenc. If the VCD or SVCD streams are not multiplexed corectly 800MB will not fit on a 700mB disk.

When you drop a corectly multiplexed mpeg 800mb file into nero(using the SVCD-mp2 or VCD-mp1) template it will drop in size by about 100mb when looking at the bar at the bottom of the screen.

The reason for this is that you are dropping the error protection for the Mpeg track.

if you overburn you can fit even more!!

    Cheers
