  1. Anyone know why when i use spruceup to make a title set to burn nero 5.5.8.2 gives me this error when i try and burn it: Violation against DVD specification detacted, DVD-Video files reallocation failed.

I can burn the DVD with a different program and it works fine and plays fine. Only does it when i use spruceup.

I have had this problem and i might of found a solution but i can't quite remember how i fixed it. Make sure the files you are burning are compliant. Also you may want to try ulead dvd movie factory or workshop and authour with that program. If i remember how to fix it i will reply.

Make sure you aren't dragging over the .LAY file that Spruceup creates (this would technically violate the DVD spec).

If this is not the problem, give us an exact list of the files you are putting into the NERO VIDEO_TS directory (and you are putting these files in this directory, correct?).

  5. forgive me in advance... but ive only had the writer a couple of days and i followed the guide on http://www.dvd2dvdr.com/ up until the prasso primo part (which i dont have - and cannot find anywhere!!!) so i thought maybe nero could burn it (im ripping my own copy of shrek and trying to write it out (only to test it!!!) i have followed everything on that page.. and done the ifo part etc... im left with the vobs etc in a directory which i try to add to nero (burn dvd video option) which is when i get the error. i have searched neros web site and not found the error message anywhere... im a real newbie i know... i dont quite understand the steps needed to take to rip/create a dvd... i understand the ripping part.. but im not really with the authoring part... i dont understand what is authoring and why you need to do it when you already have the ripped files on your hard disk? can you not just burn these files to a dvd and it works without using spruce up? like i said guys, i do apologies for my total lack of knowledge in this area.. i am trying really hard to read as much stuff as i can, and did search in the forums etc for this error.. and this is all i found.. anyone that could help me i would really appreciate.

  6. i have removed the .lay file from the video_ts directory on my hard disk.
and it still says the same error message, the files in there now are:

    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_4.VOB

when i use nero (5.5.9.0) and select dvd-video from the main menu, i click add files and i add the VIDEO_TS directory, but in the nero window it doesnt show a VIDEO_TS directory? is that right?

that is a problem .. you must put those files in to nero's VIDEO_TS dir ..

make sure you start with type of disk DVD and DVD-Video as the subset .. the VIDEO_TS dir will be highlighted in red on the nero 5.5.9.x version and both audio and video on prev versions ...

the files you have there are correct ...

  8. i have selected : E:PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-104 [DVD]

as the device to use, and then select the subset DVD-Video Files.
there is no directory on the next page where you add the files.

even if i try and add the VIDEO_TS directory to the `add to project thingy` it doesnt add the directory, it adds the files only. is this wrong?

  9. Sounds like your Nero's screwed up. Upgrade to the latest version. The video and audio folders are there and cannot be deleted. It won't even let you drag in the lay file, so you don't need to delete it. If you don't want to upgrade, try uninstalling and reinstalling. I have 5.5.9.0 and have had no troubles at all. Not one coaster.

Every version of NERO since 5580 has had a DVD-VIDEO template, with the corresponding VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directories.

Is this a demo version of NERO?

Double click on the VIDEO_TS folder, and it will open in the RIGHT WINDOW in you COMPILATION WINDOW. At the top of it, it will say (you guessed it, I hope) VIDEO_TS.

    Drag your files here.

Highlight ALL of the files in the VIDEO_TS folder. Then RIGHT CLICK on them. Report to us the SIZE that is reported.

Did you check the preferences? in Nero ,file, preferences, expert features, tick in the last checkbox "Show all compilation types ...".

I could author(export) and burn only 2 dvds and they are very good. Spruce trial version does not allow me to do any more saying "This is a trial version with a limit of 2 exports".

This is NOT a Spruceup compilation. I believe that it doesn't create a VIDEO_TS.VOB file.

Are you trying to stick your authored files where the old ones used to be? Sorry, it ain't goin' work like that.

Oops... my bad. I looked at a Spruceup compilation and completely missed the VIDEO_TS.VOB. Turns out that it creates one, it just doesn't use it.

Feed your .VOBs into BITRATE VIEWER and tell us the MIN,AVG and MAX bitrate. Also tell us the "NOMINAL BITRATE" posted in the right-hand window.
