I need some help with MIRC (I'm a Newbie). I can get onto a channel & then I will type like "@locator *Spiderman*" & will get some replies at the top of people offering Spiderman.
Here is my problem, my quide tells me to hit Copy (Ctrl-C) & then Paste (Ctrl-V) it in a channel. Like, what does this Mean? I do both of those commands & like Nothing Happens! Am I missing something, how can I paste into the channel if I'm already in the channel? I need to find the secret to "Accepting" or "Getting" files, how do I do it.
Help!!! & Thanks!

Tried it again - Still No Luck! Does anybody know of a decent guide I can get that will tell me a little more about downloading files off IRC? How do I get into an XDCC Bot in order to get the Fast downloads? (I have Cable Modem).

#videohelp on dalnet! -
It is easy, go to the channel and XDCC bots are great. Wait for a bot to post all of the stats such as how many slots open, bandwidth used, etc. Somewhere in all of that you will see something like "/ctcp (bot name here) Send Pack #" and you put in the number that goes to what you want to receive after the # sign. Also, go to options and turn "auto-accept" on because you will probably have to wait in line. Also, turn off the DCC ignore and set the option not to turn it back on. If you still can't get it to work right go to the VCDHelp chat and learn the basics from some patient people there.

Thanks! that's some good info.
How do I get to the XDCC Bots? I've heard that they will give you the fastest downloads but how do I find them?
I am making some progress as I was able to download an .MP3 file from an Fserve by like typing the trigger, then DIR & then GET .Mp3 & voila it worked but I still don't know how to search for a Specific movie or song.
Are there any XDCC Bots on Dalnet & what #channel should I go to find them?

I just made another download & this was like at just 12 KBPS, that S**cks, how dow I get more speed?
-Mick- -
It all depends on the bot, how many downloads each bot is allowing, and what that bots speed is. Connect to Dalnet and then use the channel search to look up "DCC" and you will get the XDCC channels that will have XDCC bots.
