  1. I have a JVC DVl9800 DV NTSC camcorder, but this baby is NTSC. But I want to export it from computer to PAL tape.
Importing goes well, but when I convert the film to PAL, every fast element in the film, shows much horizontal stripes. I know that this is because of the change in size framerate and frequency. But there has to be a cheap way to convert between these formats, without using a high priced converter. Does anyone know if there is a software based program to convert files from 720x480/30fps/50Hz to 720x576/25fps/60Hz, without any stripes. And is this also possible in Analog and DV format?

There is a way to do this but may not be the best.
Encode you NTSC DV video to MPG2 (or mpg1 for lower quality), burn it to SVCD(VCD), then play it on a DVD player such as apex500w, tape it using VCR. You have to have a DVD player supporting both PAL/NTSC output.

Or you can encode the DV-avi to PAL MPG2, and play from you PC and tape it from your PC's TV output. No DVD player is needed.
