  1. i wrote previously and attempted to fix this problem with AVISynth and unfortunately it didn't work. (see previous listing under my name) i reformatted my harddrive and installed the latest version of TMPGEnc, AVISynth, DVD2AVI, the DIVX Codecs, etc. and i am still having the same problem:

i attempt to load a video file and i get the message "cannot open or file unsupported." i am at wits end here. can ANYONE help me out? i have literally lost the ability to encode movies and am extremely pissed off about it.

i thought formating the harddrive would take care of the problem, but it didn't.

    ANY help would be appreciated.

  2. what is the extension (actually, could you give me the specs) on the file. Is it AVI, mp2,mpeg, what is the source file, is it a raw file or did you pull it into your computer using some software)?

  4. I had a similar problem. Go to:
    Options-->Environmental Settings-->VFAPI Plugins.
Make sure you have Directshow Multimedia File Reader and that it has the highest priority. (Right-click and hit "Higher Priority.") Exit and try loading again. Hope this works.

  7. I've got probably the same problem. I just reloaded. I installed Divx codecs, then Nimo, upgraded to WM Player 7.1 and Directx 8 and that's about it. It's not supporting the *.d2v files. I had this happen before and it was a pain in the arse getting to work. I changed the order of the things in the TMPgenc program and that didn't help either.

Does anyone know exactly what's required for that program to read the D2V files?

    Thanks

  8. This seems to be a popular theme....

    For DVD2avi,
copy all DVD2avi files into your TMPGenc folder especially the "dvd2avi.vfp".
You will probably have to run your files through it again, and then retry TMPG.
Also when opening a *d2v file uncheck the directshow file reader plugin in TMPG.

For any mpg2 problems try downloading these files:
If links are broken try searching in google.

    all-filters.zip @ http://www.divx-digest.tv/nicky/all-filters.zip

    regdrop.exe @ http://www.cabletools.com/files/regdrop.exe

now unzip all files, drag the filter files onto regdrop.exe and they are now registered, you now have a mpg2 decoder.

Hope this helps..... they have for me but "your milage may vary"

  9. Hmmm, I don't have a dvd2avi.vfp anywhere. I made sure both programs were in the same directory, and unchecking the directshow box. I'm going to redo the #.d2v file from where the files are now and see what helps or hurts.

We need a manual on this topic alone. I'm thinking there's GOT to be something else to use instead!!

    Thanks!

  11. You're the man. I put them all back in the same directory, and the missing file, etc. I recreated the D2V file and it worked. I'll name my next child Billy Bob, after you.

If Tmpeg was opening files and has suddenly lost the ability it's probably because you intalled another video encoding program after Tmpeg was installed. That program has altered the Windows Registry and is "hogging" contol of the file extensions. If DVDx is installed from an .exe file it's probably the cause. Un-intalling won't help because most programs do not remove the changes they made to the Windows registry when they are Un-installed. You have to restore the Windows Registry to a previous version. In WIN98 you can restart in DOS mode, type scanreg at the prompt. You should find an option to restore.

  13. Yeah this was a fresh reload of W2K. I didn't change the first settings in my VCD software, so that's probably at least a little to do with it.

    Thanks!

  14. Well if it isn't one thing it's another. I can read the *.D2V files now and although I didn't make any changes to the DVD2AVI, It's not processing audio now. Something isn't the same, I just can't find out what it is. Can someone give me a pointer or two?

    Thanks!
