  1. I have been trying to burn a dvd+r with nero(5.5.8.2), I get the message 'unexpected exception' and it won't even start to burn but will burn a dvd+rw just fine. I'm trying to burn a rip with the folders 'video_ts' and 'audio_ts'. Is there a program out there that will allow me to use the dvd+r disc and burn these files? Anyone have any idea how to tweak Nero to make it burn a dvd+r?

I posted the same prob back on 10 June and here is what worked for me. I looked through old postings and saw that the Pioneer AO4 was giving same prob with -R media. The fix that was posted worked . My Vital stats are: Athlon xp 1700, 256 DDR mem,Win 98SE, Nero 5.5.8.2. First off can't use Nero Express for some reason. You need to use the older Nero interface. There are two ways that I know to get to it. First, use Nero express as usual to make a disc using vob files(Video_Ts etc...) when you get to point of adding vob files press the"NERO" button on bottom of interface, it should pop up a small dialog box indicating that your are going to switch interfaces and press "OK" and the old interface should come up. Choose FILE NEW and choose to create a DVD-ROM (UDF?ISO) project and uncheck Joliet option. Enter a new label if you want and then press the NEW button on the right. Drag and drop your Video_Ts folder over and then FILE and WRITE CD, when the Write Cd dialog box comes up (this is the fix) go to the MISC tab and uncheck Cache files from disk and Network. That should make it work for +R media. The second way to get to the older interface is a little program called NeroRunner, I cannot remember where I found it but if you email me I will send the zip file, it is only about 53KB. Hope this helps my email is lbishopjr@satx.rr.com.

Glad to help. Rayjr13's suggestion is also helpful, it is what I did before I found the fix. Although I usually don't use authoring programs (I do have Ulead DVD Movie Factory) all I did was make a disc using +RW media and then used (believe it or not!!!) HP RecordNow and copied onto the +R disc and it worked just fine. So there is a solution even if you cannot get Nero to cooperate.

  6. Huh, well, I had Nero express sitting around from a download from the newsgroups. Installed it and it wouldn't go back to the original version when I clicked the Nero button. I made a copy using HP my dvd. I made an exact copy of the dvd I ripped and burned on dvd+rw and it works. It even works in my portable dvd player, truly loved it when that happened! I'm going to visit friend tomorrow and try it on their various players to see how good my success rate is. For me, dvd+r is 100%. My stand alone player and my portable player rock with dvd+r. Yep, I do care about my friends and also I'm curious about compatability. It's still a learning thing. Thanx so very much to all that helped me along and get the training wheels off my computer Again, life is good......
