Hi all

Not sure if anyone can help me but here's the skinny. I have a 2 year old Philips DVD825 that is having problems reading certain DVDs. The player will see the disc is there and try to read it several times and then spin out. It will repeat this process several times and then spit the DVD back out.

The first time I noticed this was with the Legend of Black Heaven DVDs from Pioneer. The discs would play in other DVD players (Apex 500WM and 1100) as well as in my Pioneer DVD-ROM (16x slot load). I thought since I only saw this problem with these discs it was isolated. A couple of weeks later I ran into the same problem with the original release of Dogma (double-sided widescreen/Pan&Scan). Once again I thought isolated (I have a rule, one time fluke, two times coincidence three times houston we have a problem).

I ran into this again when I started collecting the Love Hina series from ADVFilms. And most recently I put in an old one again, HBO's Citizen X and it will not read as well.

Oddly enough I have had no problems with VCDs and SVCDs. I've tried cleaning the discs, updating the firmware to both 9.25 and 9.28 to no avail. On one very rare occasion I got one of the Love Hina DVDs to read by reinserting it every time it ejected for like 20 minutes. It worked flawlessly for the time it was in that one time. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening with these particular discs or any way to fix it?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
