  1. I've got a dvd that' under 4.3 gb (shows less than this in Explorer) I want to copy, preferably in it's original form.

Do I just select files in SmartRipper, rip all the files, and just throw them into a VIDEO_TS folder and use the data disk method in Prassi, or do I still have to author? Do I use the Files option or Backup in Prassi?

    Thanks.....

  2. No, you need to author or create the DVD in a SVCD format. Smartripper, if I remember rightly will create a m2v file and you need Vobs in the VIDEO_TS. I dont really use that as my prefered choice is DVD Decrypt or DVDx and then to Sonic DVDit

Yes, it's that simple. If the total size is under 4,700,000,000 bytes, then rip - burn - enjoy!

  5. If you have an m2v file and drop this into your VIDEO_TS you will not get any sound and I seriously don't think it would play.

SVCD will play on a DVD-r btw

  6. Thanks, but I don't want an SVCD!

The dvd I want to copy will fit in it's entirity onto a dvdr, so I want to do that, which SLK says I can do......thanks.

I should be able to test that it works by going into IfoEdit and testing the DVD, so I'll do that before I burn. Thanks....

as long as you keep the structure there should be no prob.

  8. Looking good.....!

Ripped the files, and checked the .ifo file with IfoEdit. It let me run the movie and it worked OK, so I'll try the burn now.....

If it works, it was a piece of p**s! Didn't need to author or anything!

    It works.

For single-layer DVDs, just use DVD-Decrypter or Smartripper to either rip an VIDEO_TS to your hard drive, or an ISO image. (Use the image only if the file mode wigs out on you or doesn't seem to work.)

Then if you did the directory, load up PrimoDVD or other data DVD burning software, add an empty AUDIO_TS directory, your ripped VIDEO_TS directory, and burn. Voila, instant copied DVD, works precisely like the original.

If you did an ISO, burn it with Ulead or Nero. Same result, essentially.

For dual-layer DVDs, you have to work on the files to make it work. For some, such as Austin Powers 2, it was a simple matter of deleting the fullscreen version and the making-of extras, and the rest all fit fine without any re-encoding!!! Burned in PrimoDVD and plays fine.
