Hi,
This isnt somethign everyone can do i know but for those that can i strongly recomend this.
Although i still do convert some of my files to vcd, i got real fed up with this taking up time on my pc. I decided in the end to get a video card with an S-VHS out to my TV (Savage 64mb 3d). I have to say it was the best investment i have made for ages!
Now i only have to burn my AVI Divx files to CD, and play them from my PC to my TV. Ok i realise that this will still be using my PC, but only for the duration of the program - and of course if im watching a program im not using my pc anyway.
The real benefit is that supprisingly the quality on my tv is far better than on my monitor. I think this is down to the fact its being output via S-VHS, and also that in some ways the TV blurs out the imperfections.
Also i only need one cd instead of two for my files, and avi divx (for me anyway) has always been better quality than vcd or svcd.
If anyone's pc is near thier tv then i strongly recommend this. You'll get better results and save yourself time and money.
