  1. I have downloaded and installed the huffyuv codec on my ati rage pro aiw system but how do you tell the ati vrc setup that I want to capture with it.

    I am trying to archive home movies on vcd or svcd for the convenience of viewing. All my captures so far don't look too good although all of it is hand held high movement. I do have some stationary shots and they don't look too good either. They look OK on my computer but when re encoded on tmpegenc (vcd format- lousy samsung dvd player) it looks like 3rd generation. I have seen the stuff posted in the samples area and it makes mine look stupid. Any help or suggestions PLEASE?

    rtherr3184,

    The one way I know how, based on memory, is first:
    IN MMC:
    -------
    * start MMC
    * set or create a profile or template for AVI capturing and give it a name
    * make sure you have all the settings you want with it, (so that
    the next time you start an AVI capturing project in MMC, you start
    up your template and begin capturing)
    * after saving your new profile or template,
    * SHUT DOWN MMC!! next you need to. . .

    THEN...
    --------
    * load up either vdub or avi_io
    * setup your capture settings/configs
    * under compresssion (whichever menu item in ither capture apps)
    set your codec to HUFFY. Next,
    * YOU MUST DO SOME CAPTURING RIGHT AWAY (COUPLE OF SECONDS) then
    (why? so that some settings actually get saved somewhere mysteriously
    but that MMC (or any other app) will pull these mysterious settings
    for it's capturing)
    * stop, CLOSE DOWN VDUB or AVI_IO then,

    IN MMC again:
    -------------
    * load up your MMC (I'm assuming you wanna do your capturing souly
    with MMC here)
    * load up your AVI template (the one you just named)
    * and, begin capturing.
    * DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO VIEW YOUR CURRENT TEMPLATE!! else you may distroy
    your AVI settings w/ HUFFY codec - - well, you've ben worned! Don't
    go crying to me for help, cause I wont!!

    All this, is based on memory, so good luck!
