  1. I've been doing animation in a number of 3d apps and I have a few that I would like to put on CD......most are only about 5 mins. in duration.
I've been lurking here for the past few weeks and have downloaded a few apps. and have done a LOT of reading. I would like to play back at 480x360 or better, 15 fps or better.......any suggestions? I can't seem to find anything about putting computer anis. on disk, only DV stuff.

  2. It's recommended to make it a DVD, SVCD, VCD. Of course you can burn the AVI file generated by your 3D software on a CD as backup storage.

3D software you were talking about are mainly freebie. If you want to spend, Macromedia Director 8.5 with 3D Studio, or 3D Studio Max should be good. AVI files generated can be easily encoded to VCD, SVCD, or DVD format and being burnt to CD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-RW...

    Hope this helps.

    Here's what i'm using...
ASTARTE DVDExport - use MacromediaŽ DirectorŽ to create DVD-Videos. ASTARTE DVDExport is an amazing and unique tool which enable multimedia producers to create interactive menu-driven DVD-Video titles using Director. At last, you can transform your Director projects into something that doesn't require a computer to play. Now you don't have to choose between creating a DVD-ROM or a DVD-Video; you can do both, with virtually no additional effort. DVDExport is a Macromedia Director Xtra, which extends Director's functionality to include DVD creation. Using the interface and workflow that you already know, you can create a complete, interactive application including graphically rich menus. You can play back your DVD application at any time to test interactivity and flow. When you're satisfied with the results, exporting to DVD is just a click away. The Xtra does everything for you, from importing the assets to multiplexing the DVD-Video files. The result is a DVD-Video file structure, ready to be written to a DVD-R or to be replicated.
