  1. Help! Ulead MediaStudio Pro 6.0 - how to save large file

I try to make a large avi-file with the "Create - Video file" command with the MediaStudio Pro 6.0 version 6.0.0.2 . I try to produce a 4 Gb large avi-file to the disk (where i have 30 Gb space free). I use the "Create - Video file" and always when the Media Studio has created about 3 Gb of the file i get this message and i cannot continue to save the file:

Insufficient space on this drive. Save to another drive or reduce file size. [17105:16:2]

I have reserved all the disc-space of 30 Gb for this purpose but the software cannot save this file. I use Windows 2000. Can someone tell where is the problem?

  4. Bullfromsweden. I believe MSP V6.0 does not support AVI open dml which limits your avi file length to 2G. See the note at the bottom of the page at:

  5. Hey - what is a "AVI open dml" - i have got the Video Editor 6.0 with the Haupauge-card - i think it would have been nice to tell me somewhere that i cannot produce a avi-file over 2G. Is there some other way to solve this problem?

What do you think about Pinnacle Studio 7.0 ... can someone explain to me when i capture with my Haupauge to avi-format i use a lot of harddisc space - the Pinnacle software says that it uses only some few gigas for a 60 min dv? Which format does it use?

In Studio, you have the option to capture in 'PREVIEW' mode. This is at a lower resolution. The reason being you do your edits on a smaller file. And when it's time to render your edited AVI, Studio will 'redo' the capture in full resolution, and will get only the needed frames/sections of the entire video, depending on your edits. But then, this is on DV AVIs. I don't know if that's still applicable to non DV.

I've used MSP6.0 before, and I was able to Create Video greater than 4GB (given my HD is NTFS partition). Sorry, I can't give any other help, other than the fact that somebody (me) has done it.

    my 2cents.

  7. Hi Bullfromsweden,

I am using Ulead Pro 6.5. I don't have any problem capture avi of over 20GB in files of 4GB (auto created).

You said that you have 30GB free space for the capture. But what about your program files source drive(separate HD?)? As during capturing there is a option to save into library, could it be your library directory issue?

Hope this help. I can't think of other possible problem.
