  1. Hi
I try to add in some subtitles as seen in the help article.

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/subsvirtual.htm

And now should this window appear, and it should say Frameclients installed: AVIFile only, it it says anything else install the Handler again as describe above. Don't click on the Stop Serving.
At the above part...it never stop and i have tried running it for 1 day and it's still there.

Is it normal? or where did i did wrong? cos i have follow everything exactly until this part

Click OK again and it brings you back to the Virtualdub Preview.
    Now Select Under Video->Full Processing.
And now it's time to "Frameserve" the Video directly to TMPGEnc. IMPORTANT, before doing this you have to have installed the "handler" so go to the Virtualdubs folder and run auxsetup.exe and hit the button Install Handler and click OK. Exit it and it's done.
Back to Virtualdub now and select File->Start Frame Server.
A Frame Server Setup window appear, click Start and a save window appears, Save the file as anything.vdr.
    Pls advice. Thanks!!

  3. Thanks !! I am testing it now...following the steps...

Can i use a mpeg to add in subtitles?

And how long should i expect for a 2Gb avi file? or 40 Mb mpeg file?

Please help to give an estimation...so i can see how long it will take.

  4. Sorry to ask again...

Is the 3 sections, Non AV requests, Number of frames served, Audio segments delivered suppose to move?

It has been 0 for the last 15-20 mins....
    Pls advice. Thanks !!

    What OS are you using?

In my experience with VirtualDub frameserver serving to TMPGEnc, Windows 2000 does not care what extension you give the file. I often give it no extension at all. However, when doing the same thing on Windows 98SE, I have to give it an AVI file extension for TMPGEnc to recognize it.

Is the 3 sections, Non AV requests, Number of frames served, Audio segments delivered suppose to move?
Yes, it should move. TMPGEnc reads a little bit of information from the file the instant that it is opened (or dragged it). You should see the numbers jump a little at this point. If they don't, something is wrong with the frameserver in VirtualDub or TMPGEnc is not recognizing the file.

  6. I read both the guides and did exactly what they said...even checked the TEMPGEnc settings and moved Directshow Multimedia File Readear priority higher and TEMPGEnc still won't open up my .vdr file when I frame serve from VirtualDub (it says AVI file only on the frame serv box), I also tried naming it name.vdr.avi and that won't open either. I restarted my computer after installing the handler... not sure what else to do. Trying to add subtitles to divx file and encode it to mpg. Any help would be appreciated....thnx.

I think that it could help you out...
I had the same problem, and it was the thing that was missing to put things working.
Search this file at the forum, there is a direct link for it...

    Dear Friends!

I'm ashamed to ask a silly question but after days of trying many ways, I still haven't done it. I'm trying to add subtitle to my VCD, but every time I frameserve my avi to any encoder (using Virtual Dub), those encoders (TMPGEnc and Panasonic) refuse to open *.vdr file.
I have tried many way, include:
    - Uninstall all of relate software and reinstall.
    - Change *.vdr to *.avi
    - Install ReadAVS (So in my TMPGEnc *.vdr is supported, as I can see in the list of supported format)
    - Run Virtual Dub with proxy on and off
    - Give higher priority for DirectShow Multimedia Reader and Avisynth/VirtualDub Reader in Environment setting and some other ways but so far get no result.

So if any of you have know how to fix the problem please give me a few words. It would be a great help.
    Thanks for any advice.

  10. I have the same problem as others, I followed every step on the subtitles for MPEG files guide without any problems until I got to the part where I had to convert the .vdr file with TMPGEnc. It won't open it and gives me this message that says, "File..... can not open, or unsupported".
I already copied the "MSVCR70.dll" file to system32(and also system) directory, changed the high priority in TMPEnc, changed the Virtual Dub version to lower 1.4.9 and still doesnt work.

In My case,I just install Vdub, run the auxsetup and Install the handlers.I copy the Msvcr70.dll to my system directoryes.Install TMPGenc.Run vdub, opern the file, start the frameserver.I give the name test.vdr and save the file,I open the file at TMPGENC,And it Always works, and I use the latest versions from both programs...
Before I put the msvcrfile,it never worked, and once when I forgot to install the handlers,it didn't funcion at all too...
