Okay here is what I am trying to do and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction to get started.
In the past I have made wedding videos for family and friends on VHS tapes and I am trying to get a little more up to speed and learn how to make these work as a VCD.
I know I need a capture card to convert the video on the camcorder onto the PC but what software works best for this? And what software can I use to merge video from the camcorder, Still Photos (.jpg), and music all together? I want it to be as professional as possible so if I have to pay for better software I will do so..
I just now there are alot of pros in here and I am hopeing for some personal input...

Thanks so much for any help you can give!!

  2. Warning: Just a suggestion. I'm not a professional.
To work in a better editing environment, I would suggest capturing in AVI format (space-consuming, capture card expensive, require reasonable PC setup), and edit using Adobe Premiere (expensive), FrameServe(troublesome) result to TMPGEnc(time consuming) to convert to VCD format. Hope this helps.

  3. What kind of camcorder? If its DV then you don't need the capture card. If you can afford it, adobe would be great. But don't feel that you have to spend thousands of dollers (or what ever your currency is). Basically all you need as a suitable computer, capture card, and program. For basic editing any program will do, I haven't seen one yet that could not import still pictures or music (granted some are better than others).

As for having a professional looking video, I feel it depends more on you then on the program.
