Is it possible to convert a DVD that's in widescreen format to a fullscreen VCD?

  2. The only thing I can think of is to encode with tnpgnc and select the no margin for your screen size. This will cut off part of the left and the right of your widescreen. If you try to stretch the widescreen the faces and bodies will look tall and skinny.

You can always try and do what the TV guys do to most movies to make then fit your 4:3 tv set... just crop of a few cms from each side.... the picture won't look out of proportions, but you'll be missing some of the action...

this method is basically the "pan and scan" method, where you chop of the side of the video, but pan backwards and forwards on the avction scenes. unfortunately, there is no way in tmpgenc to do that... and it would be extremely time consuming as well.

you can just cut little bits of either edge, so you still have most of the picture, and the black bars aren't as prominent...

    good luck!
