  1. Using VCDEasy, i was able to divide up chapters (i pasted a chapter IFO file from my DVD using ChapterXtractor)
When i burn the image, and i play it (I use Dameon Tools to test the VCD first, before i make the cd to see if it worked), i can fast forward, and skip to chapters, but in my DVD player (WinDVD 4) it still says i only have chapter 1. So when i play chapter 2, it still says "chapter one", when i play chapter 3, it still says "chapter one"... etc...
Anyone know how i can fix this? it's probably a setting that i'm missing in VCDEasy, but i can't figure it out and it's driving me nuts! Any help is much appreciated, thanks!

    Hi!
It says Chapter 1 because you probably have only one track with all the chapters. The player recognizes the track as a whole chapter and the chapters as entry points.
If you want to see the "real" chapters you have to cut your track into individual tracks and burn them. And that will take more time to do.
    Good Luck!

    Absolutely NOT!!

The number that the player shows is the "track" number, not the "chapter" number. There is nothing you can do to change this.

A multitrack VCD is not real chapters as was suggested by fravel!

VCDs are different from DVDs in this regard.

Maybe it was my fault for not writing clear enough. The word "real" is between quotation marks, and that's a way of saying or writing things "tongue in cheek". I know is the track number. I've learned several things in your great site. He says chapters because he is probably relating it to the letters "CH." that appear under the track number in WinDVD.
Again, sorry for any inconvenience I might have caused.

  5. Ok, so let me try to sort out what yer saying...
On WinDVD 4, or any program for that matter, under CH, it will always say 1? Using the "HOW TO" file, for creating menus using VCDEasy, it mentions that you can set the DVD's remote to go to chapter 1, 2, 3, etc... when you press the 1,2,or 3 button... will this still work?

Exactly. If your VCD is correctly done you can navigate it using the numbers and if you use the next, previous, enter, etc. features in VCDEasy, you can use them too.

    Hi there,
I have the same problem, except on my Sony DAV-S300.
I used VCDEasy to create chapters every 10 minutes, but the DVD player reports only 1 chapter(the last one).

I've read the comments above, but I am still unsure on how to solve this problem.

Do I have to convert my 1 track to multiple tracks, or is there another easier way to achieve this?

    Please help.

    Thanx

  11. What i've heard is that you need to physically divide the MPEG into parts in order to achieve the actual chapters. Using VCDEasy creates entry points that function as chapters, so when you press the remote control buttons, 1, 2, 3... or use the >> advance button, those will work
check out the Guides section in the forum, there was a similar post. The topic had something to do with chapter creating with VCDEasy
    Good Luck!

  12. As above.

The DVD player shows the track number NOT the "chapter number" for a S/VCD.

There is no way you can get around this.

If you divide your MPEG into fragments, you will be creating a multitrack VCD. These do not play back seamlessly and you will get a pause/blip between tracks.

The way to create "chapters" is this: http://www.vcdimager.org/guides which is the way that VCDEasy (and any other VCD authoring program) makes them.
