  1. I am using tmpeng for encoding and when I have encoded my videos, when played back, there is a slight jump every 5 seconds, which when burned to disc is quite noticeable.

Also, I have found that my video cd's work on my DVD player and no one elses, could this be a problem with Roxio 5.5 Platinum (my current burner)

Please help me find the best authoring utils and burning software

  3. Yes.

I encoded using the Video CD template (PAL). I have followed the tutorial exactly that you have on your site.

  4. ? "my site" I don't have a site on encoding VCDs...

In any case, there "could" be a problem with Easy CD Creator... I personally don't recommend people using it. You could always try VCDEasy or Nero to create a VCD to see if that works properly.

    Yeah use nero
I had a hell of a lot of trouble when I used other burners.
I've found that that one works the best.

  6. I have now used Nero and the burning is great but I still have this skippy problem with TMPenc. Is anyone aware of a good encoder to use instead

  7. Okay, let's try to get to the bottom of this...

Which version of TMPGEnc are you using?

Does the MPEG play fine on your PC?

Does the VCD play fine on your PC?

Does the VCD play fine on someone elses DVD player?

What is the make and model of your DVD player?

Does it have any problems play audio CDs burnt on the same media?

    Regards.

  8. Thanx for your help.

The reason for the jittery playback was conversion to Pal from NTSC, I was loosing framrate or vice-versa.

And I now use Nero for burning and the CD's work on all other DVD players
