lets say i ripped a dvd but it was still just a little bit bigger than 4.3gb, is there any tool that cut the end of the last vob file ie the credits, so it would make it that much smaller?

  2. run ifoedit and rip excess out of a movie ( soundtracks, directors commnetary ect.. ). THe guide for it will be at www.doom9.org. I have yet to see a DVD that's just over the 4.3gb limit as they are usally under or way over ( and then you got a dvd-9 ) dual layer dvd.

i have already ripped out just the movie, and it is still bigger than 4.3gb, out of say 4 out of ten movies which i have ripped are over 4.3gb.
how come you get a little piddley film like mike bassett england manger which is only 85mins long with no special effects at all, and just the movie file is 5.01gb, whilst you can something like bugs life, with loads of effects and about the same length, and the whole dvd including everything is less than 4.3gb?

  5. In actuality the movie files if you rip out extra tracks easily fit on a 4.3gb disc, it all that extra that's loaded on to the film that makes them total sum of all the vob over the 4.3gb mark. It all depends how they are authored.

    SteveDVD. thats a marketing error.

    4.7 GB=4,700,000,000 Bytes, but it isn't.

    4,700,000,000 Bytes / 1024 / 1024 / 1024 = 4.37 GB

first try stripping with ifoedit. then if you en up with just a little more than 4.3 gb, see if reducing sound bitrate a little is enought. outher you better reencode viodeo to lower bitrate. there are a vob cut proggie but i dont think its so good. i didnt give it much time thou.

  9. 46 hours ? it only take me 10 on my p3 933 , and 5 on my p4 2 ghz to reeencode a video for mpeg2 to dvd specs for authoring, it shouldn't be THAT slow.

"Mikerios", I did about 13 hours to reencode a video to Mpeg2 (100 minute video) with a PIII 1 Ghz, can you plz tell me which programs you used and about the quality you got in that way ?

    Thx in advance

  11. I use VCD Galaxypack ve 2.27 for ripping and framserving ( DVD Decryptor to rip, DVD2AVI to framserve. ) I use TMPEGEnc ver 2.52.34.129 to encode, CQ of 85 to9 0. max bitrate of 4500, audio bitrate of 192 to 384 for a 90 to 100 min movie, motion quality set to high.Quality is superb.

I have been playing with KWAG's KDVD template at www.kvcd.net to further increase my cq factor and or bitrate or keep it the same for long 2 to 3 hours movies .

  12. mikerios, when you use DVD2AVI what options do you select for the audio demuxing? I just want to make sure I keep the DD 5.1 track intact when I create my project.
