I am struggling with burning downloaded divx files to cd. I use Nero and simply create a data cd but I can't get my pc to open the contents of the newly-burned cd. Nero reports no problems with the burn but then when I try to open the cd my pc just hangs. I know my cd burner is ok because I have burned cds successfully since having problems with the divx files. Any help would be most appreciated.
Please note I am just trying to back up the files, not burn a vcd or anything....

It's probably in some type of folder on the cd try putting the cd in your drive and then using the software player look on your drive and try to open it up that way.
Hope tis helps

Thanks for the quick reply. I've already tried what you suggested (I think) but no good. Tried to open through My Computer, tried using divx player. I've burnt it twice so I doubt it's the cd either. I struggle for disk space so want to back up files before converting them.

Just media player. They play from my hard drive but not from the cd. Very odd!

Hey there . . .
When you say "you use Nero" to burn a data cd, are you using the video-cd option in the Nero wizard or are you just literally burning a data cd with the AVI file as the only file?

Just burning a data cd. I beginning to think it's because the files are divx but I've never heard of probs like this before. This is the first time I've posted a message on this forum and I must say I'm very grateful for all the replies.

I have been saving mine to cd for a while and have no problem with Nero burning the divx as a data file. Your computer might not be able to read the cd if it was burned as a multisession burn. Be sure to burn it as a "finalized" disc.
I have had Nero say that there is not enough disc space to burn the file when "multisession" is checked.
Just a thought, if you find that it was multisession, finalize the disc.
Now the disclaimer.
I am new at this and could very well be wrong. -
Me too brewwine. But not that new to Nero. Yep, I finalized the disc. I'm going to have to give it another go. I've wasted that many cds lately it'd be cheaper to buy the movie.
