I've d/l a couple of movies and made some VCD's. Video's perfect, but audio's choppy;
Used TMPG, PAL template (fps was 30 btw), highest quality, Audio Stream setting: MPEG-1 Audio Layer II, Audio Bitrate: 224. The rest I kept unchanged.
I loaded the .avi file in Virtualdub. It told me the file had an improper VBR audio encoding and would rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values...I let it do so.
Then I converted the file and tried to burn it (NERO). The program said that it was incompatible, but according to the VCD criteria, everything should be right.
btw A file loaded in virtualdub which didn't give the improper audio, etc warning also didn't get a warning in NERO, and this file does play perfectly on my standalone (both audio and video).
What should I change?

I thin you should set the fps always to 25 when encoding to PAL.

Maybe we have a misunderstanding.
Was the fps on the original movie 30, or did you encode to PAL with 30fps?The Dutchman
