Every SVCD I try to make just wont work, Im following the guides to the letter using Virtual Dub then TMPGEnc and then burning as a SVCD with the latest Nero..

And every one I finish wont work at all, it locks up my DVD Standalone player, and WinDVD 3.0 says its an unknown cd.. Grrrr. I can access the files & dirs on the cd and read it fine, but they wont play at all.

I dont understand what im doing wrong as everything seems to work fine every step of the way, nero even says its a standard SVCD type of MPEG etc..

The Only thing I couldnt do was pic the right resolution in Virtual Dub, It kept saying that res wasnt supported, so I used the the next res up, and TMPGEnc just downsizes it anyway..

Anyone have any ideas what im doing wrong ??

    My specs..
    Thunderbird 1.4gigz
    384meg DDR Ram
    Soltek SL-75DRV
Asus Geforce 3 Deluxe <-- Using this as the capture device
    Ricoh MP7120A 12x10x32x

Any help would be great, TIA.

  2. TIA, I just use the Guides from DVDRIPGUIDES.COM. His SVCD guide works flawlessly for me every time. Try this method and see what you get. I use a Pioneer DV-333 for playback.

  5. Not sure how or why to use virtualdub but i use DVD2AVI

After ripping the vobs to the harddrive use DVD2AVI to make the .d2v and .wav file.

Then load the .d2v video and .wav audio into tmpgenc.
And use the vcd or svcd templates that come with it.

Also make sure you have the:
VFAPI plug-in for TMPGEnc project file (348KB).

  8. Try a test cd with several small clips encoded with different resolutions and see which ones work and what doesnt work. I find anything over 480 resolution dont work on my apex.
