  1. Ok I am not sure I am in the right place. I know we can copy or playstation game unto a cd-r but I was told we need a mod chip or I heard of a boot cd which means you dont need to modified your playstation. I dont want really to modify my playstation but would like to play those copied games....ANyone knows of a free program or very cheap way to make this happen?

  2. If you don't want to install an MOD chip then the only way to play backup games is to use PS-X-CHANGE II bootup CD for playstation. This bootup CD can not be Recorded to a CDR therefore you must buy the original.

  3. There is also a cheat cartridge you can buy which alllows you to play copied games, cant remember what its called though. It allows you to play copies as long as you insert an original title first, any original disk will do. You then put in your copied game and it will play.

  6. Ok so if I was to buy either taht cd or theat plug in thing which one is actually better and is the quality of the game the same...is there any loss on data or quality?

  7. With the plug in box the quality is the same but it is more faffy than the chipped player, you have to jam down the pin thats under the lid so when it reads the origional disk you can open the lid and insert the copy disk without it rebooting. The chipped version runs streight through. You can get the chip from likes of Maplins and im sure someone on the net will have instructions. someone will do it for under a tenner.

  8. The problem with the MOd chip is that Sony devlops new ways to cheak if you have a mod in your PSX or PS2 so let say you had a mod chip install last year and you got Final Fantasy 9 (orginal or burned) and it u put in your PSX and your saying to yourself this game i going to be soo cool then al of a sudden a black screen pops up saying in This sytem has been modifed and will not run this game. Please call 1-800-000-0000....now thats a porblem with a MOD Chip you can trust them only for a short period of time.

Now for a Boot CD and Boot Cartilage its great has there is no way Sony can detect if you are using one BUT u will have playing problems with game w/ multiple disc the ask you to promt for the next disc but doesnt save and only save when you insert the next disc...now thats about the biggest problem with boot CDs and some Boot cartilage....now for the biggest problem for the cartilage that it wont werk for PS1 or SP9000 series i think has Sony removed the serial link. You can only use them for models SP7000 or below

  9. Not true, the Boot CD and game shark device can be detected and need a special boot or enable code to be run, just a minor annoyance.

Game enhancer, game hunter, gold finger, mini-goldfinger as well as PS X-Change 2 boot disk all use the swap method - meaning you start a real PS disk and then remove it and insert the import/_ackup you want to play. A spring is inserted to hold the lid down or a PVC tab for the PSone.

A mod-chip, as long as it's the latest version will simply play the import/_ackup. I don't think Sony is going to worry to much about Mod-chips for the Playstation/PSone, who cares if you play Barbie or Mary - Kate and Ashley, most playstation games are being made for kids and Sony is more focused on the PS2.

My mod-chip was good till a year ago and then it was detected, no big deal because I don't play it much any more and as stated the enable codes get around that.
