What happens after you load it into Media Player, select "Save As...", and select what kind of file it is?

  3. Just open with virtual dub, and create a new avi file

  5. I would re-encode the file with virtual dub, creating a brand new .avi. If you know how to manipulate the audio and video bitrate, there will be no loss in quality, and wont have any problems with making it larger than it already is.

  6. Also, are you sure it is an .avi? try using the program "terabit avi info"
