Trying to use TMPGEnc to convert an AVI into a MPG and squeeze onto a VCD. I followed the directions posted on VCDHELP and used the bitrate calculator and all seemed to go well. It converted and it burned onto one nonstandard vcd. but when I went ot play it on my Apex ad-1100w the picture was a mess! I had bands running accross the screen and it seemed to show the same picture on the left as it did on the right! Sound came out fine. I came soo close I know it must be some little thing I'm overlooking. Any ideas as to what it could be?

Dont worry about calculating the bitrate for a vcd just use the standard template and give it a go, you may have used too lower a rate to fully fill the picture maybe, what rate did you use?
Welcome my son, welcome to the machine. -
Yes it does work on my PC and I set the audio to 128 and the rest tink to 1048. Also I downloaded the sample xVCD from this site and burned it the same ame it play fine in my DVD player.
Now if I just use the standard template they give me the move will be too large for one disc correct? -
Double pictures and lines across the screen!
Sounds like you've got a sync issue with your video, DVD player or TV. Best thing to do is to take a 5 minute sample and encode with the standard VCD template for your region (PAL or NTSC). Once you get that working then start playing instandard bitrates and settings.
