Some tests with tweaked DVDX1.6 (new formats, executable is on my site).
VCD 1800: VCD with bitrate 1800
PC: playing, better quality
DVD: not viewable, video is chopped
CVD, or Sefy's xVIDEO: 352x288 + MPEG2 + bitrate 1150
PC: ok, better quality, without clicks
DVD: ok, better quality
Encoding time comparable with VCD!
xSVCD: 352x576 + MPEG2 + bitrate 1300
PC: good quality, blocks, probably too low bitrate
DVD: same
Encoding time big, I need 2GHz![]()
Now, my choice is CVD, or Sefy's xVIDEO.

Use the lsx plugin for DVDx 2.0
Video Bitrate 1600kb/s
audio Bitrate 190kb/s
motion low (20)
use I.P and B frames
Number of P frames 4
Number of B frames 2
P frames motion vectors
32
32 for action movies or
16
16 for the rest of the movies
-------------------------------------------------------------
use resolution 352x288
or if your dvd player can handle higher resolutin use 480x576 or 480x480 for ntsc and the image quality is great, less blocks than 352x288 but use only 480x576(480x480) when your bitrate is higher than 1500 kb/s
Resize filter in DVDX Bicubic,
Than burn the mpeg file you get, with Nero to a non SVCD compliant CD (because of the higher resolution,)or to a non Standard VCD when you use only 352x288 and the result is great!!!!
The only problem i currently have is,that after skiping forward the movie on my stand alone player the audio is lost, dont know currently why?
But without skiping the audio and video matches perfect.AMD XP2000,ASUSA7V333.GF3 V8200 TI200,
Alpha 8045,Y.S Tec Poer Fan, Seagate Baracuda IV
