YupSomebody who was an op in my channel showed me how to get the key to a private chat room. The keys on dalnet aren't really that secure. So you can find out all sorts of useful info by joining the op only channels. Dump sites, ftp login etc

when you try to join a specific channel on IRC and they ask for a specific nickname...where do you go to obtain that nickname?
thanks for any advice -
I don't know a whole lot about IRC,but it seems to me that if you have to download the equivalent of 4 cd's to get LOTR then the cost savings are not so great (I'm asuming that most would use quality media).
Not just the CD blanks cost but the wear and tear on your burner, electricity etc.I know it might sound penny-ante and cheap but do most of the IRC Videophiles do this because its a hobby?
or
Because they don't want to spend the money at the movies or video store?
(personally I do it for both reasons.....but I take the 2 cd XVCD route and boy,do I get some fabulous results!)"Today is only yesterdays tomorrow" -
I know it will take a while, but that/'s what I am shooting for! I know I have got alot to learn, but hell, I spend most of my time in front of my computer anyway, I might as well get thje most out of it. These Centropys and Video Vaults and Video Vans (and the rest of them) got it going on! Many props to you all!
Peace,

When you go on DALnet, you have to sent them a message with your password. It's on the "status" screen. When it's sent, you're identified. Some channels, I believe #scifi is one, won't let you on without a registered nick.
There may also be channels that are "members only." You have to find the members somewhere else, and beg and ask real nice for permission to enter. Some of these folks don't let just anyone in; you might have to contribute your own movie file or other item to get access. I don't deal with this, 'cause I don't have time to hack passwords to programs or sit in movie theatres with a camcorder to copy the latest movies.
By the way, for those of you who were asking me to "train" them on using IRC, you can get a lot of data just by searching on Yahoo for "IRC help" and then messing with the program a while.Animation and geeky reviews and podcasts at
