Install the Nimo Codec Pack and reboot! Then try it... Make sure that you're using Virtualdub v1.3 or TMPGEnc v2.0

  6. Most of the time I convert .wmv files using TMPGEnc. Just open the file by selecting 'all files' in the open dialogue and it will normally convert it to mpg fine.

You can also use GraphEdit but it is a bit cumbersome.

You could use graphedit but the file size would be huge as an uncompressed video.

But you can get version 2.02 (which is what you need) from here...

  8. Please not that any version of TMPGEnc works, I recently did one using 2.55 and have done ones with considerably earlier version.s

The reason that i stress version 2.0 is because alot of people have had problems with tmpgenc locking up after about 10 minutes of encoding but version 2.0 has worked every time...

  10. When I have a WMV file that uses the nasty WMV1 or WMV2 codecs I have had success with this guide: http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/asf_wmv2avi_mpg.html

well the quality may not be the best in the world, and its a quick shot, but just drag and drop the wmv file into nero and let it convert it for you. I sucessfully did a couple of wmvs that way and it worked fine. Hey....its worth a shot......
