Really Stupid Audio Question

Hello all,
I'm making a backup of a DVD and I have a really stupid audio question. I am using DVD2AVI and if I choose "Decode" audio I get a 1.7GB WAV file and if I choose "Demux" I get a 500MB AC3 file. My question is: Which size will it actually be when I burn to my DVD-R? I ask because I want to make sure that I make my average video bit rate is as high as it can be without going over.

I will be using either DVDit or DVD Workshop.

yes, really is a stupid question...it will e the size of whichever audio file you choose to use. Personally I would go AC3 becuase its dolby digital and smaller.

Yes, a really, really stupid question (just kidding)! What you really should be asking, is whether or not your authoring programs can import an .AC3 file. DVDit-PE can... I don't know about DVDWS.

Basically, the two files are the same (audio wise). So, you tell us, which one should you use if you want to maintain maximum bitrates?

But this AC3 file is most likeley DD 5.1 and AFAIK Dvdit only supports 2channel (stereo) AC3 at best, so it will probably spend ages transcoding it for you. In that respect, give it the uncompressed wav file and let it transcode that, should be a bit quicker!

I believe Spruce will import DD 5.1 AC3 files.
