Cant get my TVout card to play any video file (not just dvds and copy protected stuff) without doing the macro thing and screwing up signal or blocking it all together. I have a ATI-RadeonVE-64mb and Media Player, PowerDVD and WinDVD all play files fine on PC monitor but signal is blocked on TV....I can see anything on desk top with the exception of the video. ??? any solution that anyone has actually done/work.

Right click on the desktop>goto settings>goto advanced (on settings) and change your primary viewing device to whatever you are using...

I'm having the same problem. You are right that I can change the primary device and get it to work on my TV OR my Monitor but why can't I get it to do both? I get a black screen on one or the other. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and played with every setting over months and months in an attempt to get decent quality out of my ATI AIW RAdeon 7500 and I know that for the longest time I had video on both TV and Monitor. Now suddenly I have to choose. Somehow I even got it recently so that both buttons were down (in chooseing primary device) but out of curiousity I changed it and now it will only let me have one down.
What is going on? -
Well...I went to ATI's site and downloaded newest drivers. (Up June 13 2002)
1st..The installer does not work right...it goes through motion of installing ...then says that it cant find some driver file (which it should have ...or install or some BS)
2nd ...When re started the message comes up" unable to find ATI Driver...unloading ATI panel "....or something to that affect. ...Which means that you cant change any settings on the secondary display device....
3rd... All that aside ...My TV now shows exactly whats on the monitor... Even when conected to the VCR...I ran MediaPlayer...Power DVD both ran full screen... no macro, no black box...perfect
BUT still gives error above and must click on OK each time you restart windows, I tried to force it to find driver.....took me two hours just to get image back on monitor. -
Presto,
It seems with your current set up it's one or the other.... -
Yeah, all things considered....I'll live with the error when it starts up...I never really shut it down unless it breaks anyway.
Just wish the manufacture knew what washappening with their stuff.....how many times has anyone loaded or installed anything...that always works right straight out of the box??
I think I could count em on one foot ...and I aint got all my toes either. -
I downloaded the latest drivers and it messed everything up. So I installed the original drivers and I'm able to make my TV and my Monitor primary. Seems to work for me. Can view everything on TV and monitor at same time. Noy sure how I did it, before I had to make a macro, one for viewing/editing on the computer, one for viewing movies on the TV. . It really wasn't that much of a big deal, I set the macros to Alt-f1 and Alt-f2, only took a sec to hit those keys each time. But now I dont have too :P Try setting both to primary and get rid opf the latest drivers til they are fixed(it wouldnt find my capture card and I had to cancel add new hardware about 40 times everytime I rebooted.. very annoying)

OK for anyone that this may help.....
What Raen said is right...I reinstalled original drivers ( Not an easy task in it self...don't bother with the new ones they bite)
I went to display settings for #1 display...hit advanced...went to that boxes display tab...click on left corner of tv display box (to enable it) ..then clicked on tv display box with a circle in it ( makes tv primary display)...notice that monitor still is set as primary display also.
Hit apply.....Dont know how you can have two "primary" displays but I aint worried about symantics.
Now I can veiw anything ...on tv and monitor at same time...including PowerDVD and windows media player no black outs..so guess it now works the way I thought it always should........
