  1. Can anyone help me?

    I have burnt several home DVD videos onto CDR's that play perfectly on my PC but none will play on my home DVD player, which is a Venturer Home Theatre system.

    The DVD player is Region 2, would it help to hack it so that it will play all regions? or is there some setting I need to alter in my authoring sofware?

    I have used DVDComplete v 2.01 and Ulead VideoStudio 6 and I am downloading ULeadDVD movie factory to try next

    Thanks in antisipation

    Please be more specific in your information.

    you did burn some DVD to CD-R? in which format?
    VCD? SVCD? CVD? XVCD?

    Does your standalone supports one of these formats? (on the left side bar: DVD players compatibility list)

  3. The Duchman,

    Thanks for replying. I burnt a DVD movie in DVD format with menus and chapters onto a 800MB recordable CDR, supposably playable in all regions but my set top DVD player does not recognise the disk

    My player recognises DVD, VCD CDR

    It plays VCD's fine but I would like to have the better quality of DVD

    It sounds that you have created a mini DVD. Not all standalone players supports this format. A DVD burned on a CD is not a DVD, and your standalone player will not regocnize it as a standard DVD.

    You can try creating an XSVCD with a resolution of 720x576(like DVD) and a higher bitrate as an SVCD. But first you will have to check if your player supports SVCD.

    If it supports SVCD, but no higher bitrates or other formats, you could try creating a standard SVCD. The quality (in my opinion) is very close to a DVD.

    I forgot something;

    If your player only supports VCD, you could try increasing the bitrate. This will improve the quality a bit. But, then again, you have to make sure that your player supports higher than standard bitrates
