    Hi all,

Could someone help me out with the topic "Interlace or de-interlace" ? Thanks

I read on a few messages on various message forum about "Interlace/De-interlace??" and many people like me are confused on what to select when capturing with TV tuner. Should the "de-interlace" option be checked when capturing TV shows with TV tuner ?

  2. On what do you plan to view your result , TV ( Int ) or PC ( DI )? Why bother to DI if you plan to watch burned files on your TV?

I want to watch the captured files on my standalone DVD player.

So I un-select "de-interlace" on the option menu since I want to watch the video clip on my TV set, right ?

    Thanks

  4. That's waht I do, just don't get concerned about artifacts if you preview with Media Player , for eg.

I don't know if you have been here but.
www.100fps.com has a great, well written explanation of when to de-interlace and when to leave it alone.

    D_Knife, cool site !!!

So many examples with images which is good because a picture is worth a thousand words.

I tried capturing tv shows with deinterlacing option check and also un-checked and both the results looked almost same when I play the video clips back on my dvd player. Why is that ?

If you are playing back on TV then they will most likely look the same - this is due to the way that TV draws the video frame.

This will only look different if you use a software decoder to view the video stream.

As 100fps.com suggested check whether you source is interlaced or progressive and what your destination is.
Work on the following guideline - if it looks good on TV, don't change it.
    simple really
