  1. I would like to rip a dvd into a vcd or svcd, by using my standalone mustek V562 DVD player and my Philips 161042 CDburner in my PC. Is this possible or is it absolutely necessary to buy a internal DVD Rom player for my PC?

to rip a dvd you need a dvd-rom. if you can't get hold of a dvd-rom, you could always capture the dvd with your capture card should you have one.

  3. I do not understand your answer: I have a capture card: Pinnacle PCTV Pro (see also my PC Profile) , but how can I play the original DVD, that I want to copy into a SVCD or VCD? I do have a DVD Rom Player, but this is a standalone Mustek. Can this machine be connected to my PC to play the original DVD?
