  1. I am in desperate need of help in the field of splitting mpeg files. I've converted a 700MB .avi file (which took over 3 hours with Tmpgenc) and now am having issues with the new .mpeg format. I am trying to create 2 VCD discs, but I need the converted .mpeg file to be split into seperate mpeg files. Now I have tried MANY programs for splitting and none of them have helped me much. I've even tried the suggested programs at this site, and they too were no good. Tmpgenc can split the mpeg into one file and when I play it back, the audio does not match the movement. I am asking if anyone has a GOOD mpeg splitting program. In the past I have discovered a program that could split both .avi and .mpeg almost flawlessly. Unfortunately I do not remember the name nor the location where I downloaded it from. The layout was Windows XP based in the sense that the buttons were shadowed and the menus were drop down. (Not much help, eh?) Anyway, I would appreciate if anyone could help me with my query.

TMPGEnc will cut mpegs with no trouble at all, provided the source is faultless, in fact the latest version TMPGEnc-2.55.38.142 even converts AVI's with bad frames.

When you converted the original file, did you use a template, and did you check the AVI for bad frames ?.

Before you start to split the file, MPEG 1 Video CD should be selected from the drop down list, in addition you might click the "Correct" button

However, if your mpeg has faults, this split might amplify the faults. Sounds like your mpeg has faults, which wont show up on playback.

If the mpeg has a fault, the split will stop early. You need to re-encode the whole mpeg again in TMPGEnc, which should handle the fault.
