I'm trying to convert a DVD movie to a VCD. I followed the steps shown in the DVD Rip section. Everything was good until I came to the "converting to VCD" part. The TMPGEnc v12i can't load the "d2v" and "wav (from ripping)" files. Is there a plug-in I need to get in order for the TMPGEnc program to read "d2v" & "wav (from ripping)" files? Please help me. I appreciate all of the help. Thank you.

You need the VFP plugin for TMPGEncBeta12i. Get it from the official TMPG site. Unzip it to the TMPG directory, where TMPG.exe is.
Then open TMPG, select option and check "TMPGEnc vfp is registered to VFAPI"
Open dvd2avi, select >help and check VFAPI plugin. Make sure, there is the DVD2AVI.vfp in the dvd2avi directory.

I did everything you said. However, it still can't load the d2v file. VCDHelp.com showed that TMPEnc can load the d2v file. I didn't see or read anything about it loading the vfp file. I don't understand what you said about the vfp file in the directory. Please tell me. If anyone knows what he's talking about or can help me at all I would appreciate it.

    What Truman meant was:

Download and unzip the VFAPI plugin for TMPGEnc into the same directory as you have TMPGEnc installed. Then after unzipping into this same directory, install the VFAPI plugin by double clicking on the TMPGEncVFP_install.bat file.

Then make sure by opening TMPGEnc and clicking on "Option" that "TMPGEnc is registered by VFAPI" is checked.

Next go to DVD2AVI and press on "help". There too see that VFAPI plugin is checked.

After that everything should work fine!

  6. Try raising the priority of the VFAPI plugin. Hover your mouse over the plugin descrition and press the right mouse button, and select higher priority ( make it the highest )

There is another way to check if TMPGEnc supports the D2V file.
Open TMPGEnc, Click on "options" then on "enviromental settings". Now click on "VFAPI plugin".
Now see if all boxes are checked, and if the file you need is supported.
Open DVD2AVI, click on "help" and check the VFAPI plugin.

    I hope this works

  8. You know what they say, if all else fails
Delete your entire TMPGEnc folder, redownload the TMPGEnc 12i and the VFAPI plugin, then download DVD2AVI, now unzip ALL of them into the SAME location, now run the BATCH file that came with TMPGEnc, and you should now be able to open D2V files.

I had this problem once before. Just delete your D2V file and re-create it using DVD2AVI again. Worked for me...

I've just noticed that we may be all looking in the wrong direction for kewlAZNguy and Killzone1's problem. Make sure the files you used in DVD2AVI (i.e. VOB, MPEG etc) are still in the same directory and have not been moved or deleted after creating the d2v file. The d2v file is merely an index file for TMPGEnc - nothing else. You still need the original files!
