  1. I'm using the latest Ulead Video Studio to capture Mpeg-2 files thru my ATI All-IN-Wonder 75000 card but the file is not capturing any audio.

When I'm viewing live TV I hear it fine thru my speakers but after I capture it and play it back, there is no audio.

Any suggestions for setting to look at ?

    Thanks in advance

  2. I'm using an All in Wonder 8500 DV with VirtualDub. Same problem. Audio captured fine in MMC, plus can hear the audio track in VirtualDub so the audio is getting in? I've checkec the Windows volume utility. Nothing is muted or turned down????

    Hoping for ideas?

  3. It might be that your recording input is set to something other than "line-in". In my experience, ATI MMC (if you use MMC to record that is) will select "line-in" for you automatically when MMC is started, but Ulead may not.

From the ATI site (applies to MMC, but also to other recording apps):

Double-click on the SPEAKER icon on the taskbar.

Select Options, Properties, then click the radio button which configures the mixer to "Adjust volume for RECORDING", and click "OK".

The title bar of the MIXER window should change to "Recording Control".
KEEP THIS VIEW OF THE VOLUME CONTROLS OPEN WHENEVER YOU ARE CAPTURING SOUND.

Check the recording volumes on the mixer, to ensure that the audio channel carrying TV sound (typically Line IN) is set to a reasonable level. Also ensure that this channel is SELECTED and NOT MUTED (some mixers may show a "select" checkbox for each channel, while others have a "mute" checkbox).
    Best of luck!

  4. Thanks, but like I said I tried all those. MMC, ULead, etc. all do fine, audio and video. Just Virtual Dub doesn't copy the audio. What is even more perplexing is that the audio is... uhh audible... during recording and VD shows audio apparently being captured (audio filesize, data rate and so on).

I'd just use one of the above, except that VD really does a far superior job of capturing the video.

  5. Have you tried plugging your audio source directly into you line in of your computer and not the breakout box? Had same problem, worked for me.
