I've attempted to make a backup copy of my commerical dvd using my Sony DVD+RW drive with NERO 5.5 software. When I use the duplicate disk option I get a message that I can not copy this type of material. Is there any way I can get around this???

Yeah, try ripping the DVD first.

  3. So after you have ripped the DVD to your HDD, what next? Can I just use my DVD burner and burn the ripped .vob files to disk or do I have to a) rempeg the movie (whatever that means) and then b) join the new M2v file in to the VOB's (whatever that means).

a and b were posted in another post, but I wasn't sure what they meant by rempeg or how to join ghe M2v file with the vob files

    TIA,

    McYD

  4. There's a dvd ripping guide at the left that tells you how to make an exact copy. It's very easy to use and works great. My only problem is that I want to normalize the audio level of dvd's, and don't know how to do that without doing a re-encode.
