  1. I finally got a Home DVD player that can handle SVCDs.

I want to capture all my VHS home movies and put them on SVCD.

I have the AIW 128 Card. I have the ATI MMC 7.1 installed.
Is anyone using this to cap VHS tapes to make VCDs?
I have been UNSUCCESSFUL at finding settings that capture with best possible quality from my VHS tapes. I was just wondering if anyone else who is using the AIW and this software could give me some settings in MMC to try for this process.

I tried running VDUB as the HOW TO told me but. I dont get any options for Video Format settings. It only shows one option of UYVY.

Then I tried the CUSTOM Video Format but no matter what options I choose in there, I get an error of Unsupported video format.

Im not sure what to do. I just wanna make these SVCDs now that I have something that will play them.

    What do I do guys?

    Thanks

I also have the ATI AIW 128 Pro. I use Ulead VideoStudio 6 to make my SVCD's from both VHS tape and Hi8 tape. If you capture 480 x 480 uncompressed AVI, do whatever editing you want with the AVI, then encode the AVI to SVCD, your project should come out just fine with visual quality just under that of the source material. If it looks horrible when played on the TV change the field order. I believe VideoStudio defaults to field order A but the ATI AIW 128 captures field order B, that's what happens on my machine.

Personally I think VideoStudio is one of the best video capture/edit/encode/burn software programs on the market for the money.

  3. Try updating your ati mmc to 7.5/7.6 or 7.7. I am caturing directly to vcd - svcd or dvd with a very high quality. The try to burn your cd's with ulead dvd movifactory, its great...

  4. Being that my AIW 128 is not PRO I can only upgrade to 7.2 MMC.

Unless someone else out there has upgraded to AIW PRO software for thier NON PRO card and had it work.

    Thanks
