I'm not sure about the genius part, but I believe it's all in how our brains interpret what we are seeing. I myself never saw the "of" words until they were pointed out. My mind and eyes just skipped them I guess.

Mmmmm, if you skim over it, it does appear that there are only 3 F's. However, if you study it really carefully in the first place, you catch all 6.
