  1. I just got Lord of the Ring and it's in Divx format (avi). I want to convert it to SVCD so I could play it on my stand alone DVD player. I dl the Virtual Dup (latest version) and do exactly what the guide said to xtract the audio (uncompressed), but I got the following error message everytime:

"The requested audio compression i s not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format."

    here's the movie info:
    frame: 23.976fps, 640x272
    decompressorivX 5.0.1 codec
    sampling rate: 48000Hz
    channels: 5 (stereo)
    sampling precision: 0-bit
    compression: unknown (tag 2000)

Another thing is that the screen for this movie is 640x272. Will this fit correctly onto my TV screen or it's too narrow and the TV screen will chop the sides off? I also dl the Nimo package (latest one) and install too but still have the same error.

Please help me. Thank you very much.

  2. VBR audio or AC3. either way Vdub thinks it can't do anything with it. In Vdub select audio and direct stream copy, then file-->save wav and save the wav file seperate. then listen to just the audio to see if its OK (should be). if that doesn't work try full processing mode (gives a big file)

now you should be able to use this audio source when converting with whatever program you use.

  3. I followed the guide (DivX to Vcd) on this forum and the guide said to do "full processing mode." That's what I have problems w/. I tried the direct stream copy but the audio is horrible.

another thing is that since this movie is 23.976fps, 640x272, can I convert it into NTSC SVCD or the frames are too low? Are there any prog. that let me re-encode the movie to 29fps w/o losing any quality? This movie is someone gave it to me on a cd so I don't have the source.

  4. Converting a 23.97fps video to SVCD should not be a problem. Just select the NTSC (film) template in TmpGenc and hit encode. As for the audio, take a look at

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm#ac3

    Hope this helps

  5. To make this easy for you. Just open it in v-dub under video select direct stream. Under audio select full processing mode then go back under under audio and select conversion and select 44100hz for sampling rate. Next select file and save as avi give it a name and sit back while v-dub goes to work. The file will be larger then before but thats ok. Next run it thru tmpgnc select the template for 29.97 and things should be good to go.

  7. I tried ur way kjmacke, but it still give me the error. So I follow the guide that Kitty gave me and from direct stream audio changed the *.ac3 and use HeadAc3 to downstreamed it and it works perfectly. Now the other thing I have to do is merged the 3 Divx discs so that I can cut it into 40-42min per 80min cd for SVCD. Could any 1 tell me how to do it "PERFECTLY" so that I don't have problem w/ audio/video synch and did not cut lost of some part of the movie please.? thank you very much for all of ur time and effort in helping me.

I re-read the guide (DivX->VCD), it said that if the Divx cd that contains the movie, which if the movie is less than 80min, then I can fit it in one cd. Does the guide meant for SVCD also? I want to encode a SVCD @2520 bitrate w/ CBR per cd, so do I have to cut it down to 40-42min/cd or I can just do what the guide said?
