  1. I've converted a (very very good quality) Divx movie to VCD, but the quality of the VCD is much less than the Divx one, very blurry and blocky. I used virtualDub and TMPGEnc and followed all the instructions given on this site.... am i doing something wrong or is that normal??

  2. First off the divx probably had a real good bit rate and now you changed the bit rate to 1150 (VCD)you should find out what the bitrate of the original divx is and then make a svcd .

    Hope this helps

    Hi,

[you probably created a standard vcd with a] bit rate [of] 1150 You should find out what the bitrate of the original divx is and then make a svcd.
You could also try a (non-standard) XVCD; there are guides here. It depends on what your DVD player accepts and how many players you think you might go through before throwing away the movie.

  4. Try using the templates available on http://www.kvcd.net. They do a great job at converting divx to mpg1 (as well as dvd to mpeg1, of course).

  6. if the divx is good you will have a nice quality in vcd(mpg1)
try to encode the divx in tmpeg with the template to svcd, but
then load the unlock template and change the bitrate to constante 1150kbps and frame size to pal(352x288) or ntsc
    dc 10 bits
    filter set to quality
in the end use mpeg tools to change the header to mpg-1 vcd by demultiplex/multiplex, or merge or cutting no matter
    burn as vcd with vcdeasy
if you do it well it works
