  1. Hi guys. I downloaded Windtalkers the other day and noticed that several people had made notes stating that they couldn't get it to play. Well, they were right....I even tried it on the Zoom Player, still no go. I've installed all the codecs on the tools section and tried 3 diff players. When I try to open with Zoom it says "unable to create filters for....." . Anyone have any ideas.....besides going to the theatre (got 2 babies, my movie going days are over for a while). Thanks, Andy

Open it up in Vdub, and check file info to see which codec was used to encide it.
May the force be with you.

  6. Thanks for the reply. I, of course, am familiar with the term "fake". I guess what I was asking was, is it an avi that's been rendered unplayable? Is it just 148 megs of gibberish? I'm just unfamiliar with this term in relation to avi's, sorry for the lack of clarity. Andy

  10. hey if u cant play it, it is a fake. to really check tho use virtual fub to fix it and save it as avi to watch it again. u prob have an "enough" trailer repeated several times. its happens to me alot. i dont know y peeps keep it if they cant play it. all it does is spread a fake movie around and when the real one comes out it covered by all the fake ones. it took me several files to find the movie minority report

if you want to avoid downloading fake movies or unplayable ones, you have to check if it works b4 downloading the whole file.

    - you have to dwnload a part of the file, say 3000kb then check it w/ tmpgenc. You can scan it frame by frame if it is the right one or not.
if it is ok then you can continue downloading it, otherwise delete it and find another one. In this case it will save you the hassle of waiting for the whole file to finish and find it unplayable.

    - you can also use the divsfix if you don't have tmpgenc, you can fix the unfinished file to play in your wmp.
