  1. Hi,
Still trying to work thing out. I'm following the guide on this site for cdresting VCD's and they are coming out blochy. I was wondering if anyone knew of some things to try that might improve the outcome.

Could you specify what source files (type) what sort of software and which settings you are using?

  3. I started with a DVD rip using Smartripper. Them DVD2AVI, saved the project just as Sefy's guide tells you.
Then I used TMPGEnc and selected a VCD template. That made a MPG file that I burned to CD with EasyCD creator 4.02.
I used the defaults as in the guide. Any advice?

If you used the standard VCD template and the online Guide try changing some of these settings:

1.) Once the template has been chosen, make sure that under "settings">> "motion search precisions" is set to "high quality - slow".

2.) Under the settings tab "Quantize Matrix" check the "soften block noise" box - this should help you

3.) Under the settings tab "Advanced" you might want to consider the "custom colour correction".

Oberall there are quite a few things you can change to improve for you your output file. I would recommend reading shochans TMPGEnc Explained Guide http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencexplained.htm
