Whenever i download avi movies the file size is pretty decent. After i convert them to mpg with TMPGEnc the file size doubles/tripples..

My question is, is there a way i can convert the avi to mpg with better compression. or mabey is there another program that will compress mpg's after i convert them from avi?

I ask this because the movies i download are around 400mb avi. And when i convert them, they are way to big to burn to vcd.. i need better compression. if anyone can help, i'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    -nick.

sounds to me like your *.avi files are really in the divx format...mpeg4/divx gets an acceptable picture @ half the filesize usually.

so, you're out of luck in that respect for getting them to fit on one cd.

maybe if you cna find some 800/850mb cds you could fit your mpegs.

check under tools to the left for cut/join programs so that you can split yer mpeg onto two discs, or split your .avi and then convert to mpeg for two discs
    THIS IS HARDCORE
