  1. Hi everyone,

I am having major problems with my new Pinnacle PCTV card.

When I record using VitrualDub I lose frames 1000 frames/hour.(At least)
I cannot capture above 352x288. I have disabled preview and overlay but it does not help.

Using IUVCR I dont lose any frames and I can capture above 352x288.(Divix, Huif???)

Using software that comes with the Card. Recording TO VCD, SVCD, DVD, produces audio sync problems .

BUT my PROBLEM is that when I record 1 hour VHS( Using any software), audio sync is OK for the first 2 min, and then it looses sync more and more. At the end of the movie it is couple of minutes ahead.

Tried XP,2000 and 98SE but still the same.
Tried using tweaked BT8x8 driver from BT???????.
When I watch TV or VCR, audio sync is Excellent.

My system is Athlon XP1600, PC-Chips 810LMR(SIS630/730 Chipset), IBM 7200 rpm HDD ATA100, 192Mb of RAM. All my drives have UDMA enabled.

  2. Try capturing first at 480x480 and then by 640x480, these two resolution are the minium I can capture at with my AthlonXP 2100 (1734mhz) OC'd@ 1896mhz. Going above those resolutions is no problem, going lower, now that's another story how I envy lower system specs.

Anyway also your source could be the problem, Capturing OTA, DFC basically capturing a broadcast as it is happening requires almost no cpu power so you can capture at 352x288 to 1024x740.....etc

But for some strange reson capturing from VHS requires the strictest resolutions and demands cpu power [slight on my sytem jump from 6% usage from OTA to 9% for VHS. I can only caputre at 640x480 and above for VHS, it will not let me capture below that resolution.

    Try higher resolutions for VHS.

Nevermind the bottleneck in your capturing seems to be your chipset, seems kind of old, try something newer i.e. VIA KT333 or NFORCE 420 those two chipsets are probably your best bet when it comes to A/V cap/encode/auth....etc setups

  5. Deadpac seems to be dead right! 8)

For VHS captures, use a higher resolution.
I have to cap at 720*576 or 704*576 for zero (0) drops.

This stinks, because you have to rescale it to your final res and it produces enormous files...(22GB for 50 min cap using huffy compression)

You could give the btwincap drivers a try? They have some nice auto features like auto sharpness/saturation etc...
    http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/

Did try the the pinnacle 4.02 drives, but they produce really crap image...

I had (and have) the same problem. Read this topic:

  6. Thanks guys,

I have actually used modified version of Virtualdub(sync version) and that has fixed the problem. The actual problem is that the clock of the soundcard is not syncronized.

If anyone has similar problem try:
