  1. Can anyone tell me how I would go about reducing the size of a vcd without too much quality loss...I've been told that reducing the bitrate would help me achieve such results..is there a way of doing this without having to reencode the entire video? Thanks.

Not the best thing to do but try this.
De-mux, re-encode the audio only to 160 (or 128 or lower if you're brave) and re-mux as non-standard VCD, that'll bring the size down a bit, usually handy if you only want a few minutes more on the CD, I did Cats and Dogs like this, and no problems.

  3. Check out the templates at http://www.kvcd.net. They have been optimized for TMPGEnc to give great quality with the least amount of space. Typically, you can fit 120min on a single CDR (less if you are converting from divx - usually around 90min).
