  1. sorry fi this has been asked 100000000 times before. Anyways, it always says "file unsupported" when i use TMP to try and open an avi for conversion. i installed 3.11 and 4 codecs ( i think), but that still didn't resolve the problem. divx player ver. 2.0 will play the movie, but none of the converters will recognize it. how do i find/install the correct codecs, or whatever i need? thanks.

  2. Use Virtualdub to convert to another codec like huffyuv, indeo5 or uncompressed. Save the audio separately as a WAV in vdub too. Now in TMPGenc use the video & WAV files to make the MPEG.

Yes, it has been asked alot.

  3. thanks. is this the only way though? for "file information" it said mpeg-4 codec for the avi im trying to convert.
not sure if my settings in virtualdub were correct, but it said 4 hours to do half the movie.
is there a tutorial for this? i tried to follow the one from this site, and it simply said to download divx 3.11 aND 4 codecs and install them, then TMP should work. I installed all that stuff and it doesnt.

In TMPGEnc, select options > environment settings

Next click the VFAPI tab, Right click "Direct Show"do this until its at the top with a value of 4, check avi vfw,avi opendml and select higher priority,

  5. thanks for thew response but no dice. this is really frustrating. what should the values end up being for the diff priorities? 4 for "direct show" but what about the others?
