Hi there, I was using Premiere 6.0 to exported some .avi from captured DV. If I used "Microsoft DV avi" for the exported timeline, I couldn't open the resulting .avi in TMPGEnc.
The following was the export setting I was using:
Video Settings
Compressor: Microsoft DV (NTSC)
Frame size: 720 x 480
Pixel Aspect Ratio: D1/DV NTSC (0.9)
Frame Rate: 29.97 fps
Depth: Millions, Quality: 100%
Audio settings:
Rate: 32000, format: 16 bit - Stereo
Compressor: Uncompressed
Rendering options:
Field setting: lower field first
Special processing
Gamma: 1.0, noise reduction: none
Better resize: off, deinterlace: off
Cropping: off
Can anybody tell me why I couldn't open such .avi in TMPGEnc? If I used "Microsoft AVI", it took forever and the quality was much lower...
Thanks!
JH

I just read the posts in "unrecognizable format error message". It helps a lot!!! Thanks!

I have the exact same problem - exporting DV footage from Premiere 6.0 to an .avi file. TMPGenc will not recognize the format if there is audio in the .avi file, but seems to recognize the format when the .avi contains just video.
Did you just adjust the environmental settings, or did you have to download and install a new codec?
Thanks for any help.

Yes I just followed what KingJohn said in that post "unrecognizable format error message":
Go to Options > Environment settings
Now select VFAPI plug-in (TAB) Click your right hand mouse on the "DirectShow" and select higher priority, do this a few times until it reaches the top of the list with a value of 4
