how can i transfer vhs/vcr tapes to a CD rom. i have a CD burner and a DVD player?

I beleive the only way to do it is by capturing with a capture card,and that is going to be very slow,I think you can capture like 10 minutes maximum using win98 OS,if you use win2000 you can capture a lot longer,maybe 1 hours,I am not sure if you can capture an hour or longer...after you capture,you need to convert to Mpeg,then just run Nero and create the cd or just copy the mpeg file into a blank cd and also you can play it on a dvd player,the thing is, how to send the signal from the vcr to the computer,the ony way that I can think is by capturing

I transfer vhs to vcd with Virtual Dub in windows 2000 and you can capture an avi file until the hard drive is filled up. I have an 80 gb hd and when I capture a 2 hr video then its about 30 gb with 2:1 compression. Win 98 has something like a 4 gb file limit, but I think the capture program AVI_IO works around this.
