How to convert from 16:9 to 4:3??

Hello,
I use Tmpgenc to convert my ripped dvd from avi to mpeg. All the DVDs I have ripped are in 16:9 format and I would like to know if there is a way to convert the movies in 4:3, stretching the clips vertically and cutting the margins on the left and right.

This is probably best done in TMPGEnc. If you go to the Mpeg settings and the Advanced tab you can select Clip Frame if you double click 'Clip frame' a new window will appear with three main options, clip frame settings, arrange settings & mask colour.

If you play around with the left/right clip and the 'center (custom size)' you should get whatever size/ratio you want. Hope that helps.
