  1. I am trying to compress a 2 and a half hour movie for sharing over the internet. I have tried vitual dub but I am not too sure what settings to put on there. When I try to convert anything with vitual dub using that "how to" menu to the left, it freezes or doesn't do anything. Is there a simple program for MPEG-1 to Divx for idiots like me? Or can somebody help with my vitural dub problem.

    Search Comp PM
Select Video > Compression > DivX MPEG-4 Fast-Motion, click on the "CONFIGURE" button.

The Fast-motion codec offers better quality in movies with a lot of action and if you use a lower bitrate.

The Low-Motion is better quality, but may increase the file size.

A new window should open, and here you can fine tune the encoding
    Keyframes 10 (1 - 5) for smaller files
Smoothness/Crispness 100% might give jerks, try smaller values

Data Rate, the higher the number the bigger the size, if the original is high quality, 250 will work fine.
